Jun 12, 2005here's the problem, the stihl setting gage seems to set the air gap too tight, like 0.004" measured between the ignition module arms and the flywheel magnets using a feeler gage set. Apr 12, 2018it's sop to inspect & gap new spark plugs to your desired gap before installing them. They could have been dropped, thereby changing the gap, etc.
Nov 11, 2024there is a lot of discussion on th350 converter to flex plate gap too large and needs to be shimmed to get the 1/8" to 3/16" gap but nothing on a gap that is less than 1/8" which is what i have.. Jun 20, 2024both manufacturers say to use the same gap for both the top and second ring. Feb 17, 2025the deck lid is slightly curved as well but probably only has about a 1/32nd gap in the middle, but combined with the 1/8" gap on the quarter it causes a noticeable problem.
Oct 1, 2015if the gap is greater than .187” install a .060” flat washer between the torque converter and flexplate. Add 5 quarts of good quality. Aug 8, 2023the ten to twelve thou gap has been used for many electronic module chainsaws ever since they replaced the points condenser saws.
Jan 14, 2006the plug gap is a little small for that mild of a motor. Dec 15, 2010the wider the gap, the bigger the chance of the spark jumping to ground somwhere rather than at the plug.
